Frigga's Greenwights
Frigga's tree is the birch, and all birch groves are sacred to her. Anything carved of birchwood is welcome on her altar. Her rune is Berkana, which is the birch tree, and means growth and nurturing; its symbol may be a pair of maternal breasts.
Plants sacred to her, and/or whose spirits love her and have an affinity for her, are:
-Lady's Mantle (Leonurus cardiaca), a wound-healer whose ruffled leaves tone the uterus.
-Lady's Bedstraw (Galium verum), used for female urinary tract infections, mattress-stuffing, cheesemaking, and dyeing.
-Thyme (Thymus spp.), an antiseptic and delicious little plant.
-Borage (Borago officinalis), the plant that gives courage, whose blue flowers were floated in the cups given to warriors by their ladies upon leaving the hall.
-Weld (Reseda luteola), the dye counterpart to Odin's woad, which made a yellow dye and was paired with woad to make Lincoln green.
