come, O Wind of the North,
enfold the winter tree
to fan into blaze Irminsul’s dormant
coals, and thus warm the Saxon shades army.

O Wind whose caresses on flesh are sharp
and sting like ice-shrouded flame,
Your wail will hail Seed of Ice and Fire,
Law-speaker, one-handed, well-famed.

O Wind who cannot be vanquished or tamed
and will not, for long, be ignored,
Hone the exultant war cry, invigor
this cold, impenitent sword.

Steadfast, share the cool equanimity
of Tyr eluding the imperial cross
enduring the millennium, honor never lost,
spirit still mighty and free.

Steadfast, bequeath the covert strategy
which Tiw guarded through quitting his Hour
of Acclaim, until he appear again to empower
those mustering at the winged-serpent tree.

buff, North Wind of the Winter Tree,
the steel of the shield that grows ever stronger
with each new deed of integrity,
then whisk us away to the front of the field
facing terror, eclipse, or Ragnarok,
stone-deaf to the lure of their calls to yield…
And should we surrender our place to gain time
in a grief-stricken, flood-sodden, last-ditch retreat,
set the pace firm for the cold and wet but still defiant feet.

Glory!
For even if retreat leads only to defeat,
and eclipse to more and more dimming of the light,
if no eagle hunts fish after Ragnarok
just a murder of crows taking arrogant flight,
And the winter tree to ashes burns down, Irminsul
nothing but wind-strewn dust,
Yet will the bind-rune tiwaz flag ripple
and true warriors laud great Tyr the Just.

because Honor and Courage and true Righteousness
can never be slain by cunning or decree
Nor ever in the mound will Ice and Fire,
calm and easy, lain to rest be.
Nor, like sparks blown off a funeral pyre,
will Right Action be damped for eternity.

All hail Lord Tyr, then, straightforward, brave,
his ethics on blades of his warriors engraved,
Leavings of the Wolf, his unconcealed story,
written with runes hiding ancient glories,
Liege lord of those he has called to the fight,
he laughs with them now in the wind-driven night.
