Thor, Our Inspirer

Blessed are you, divine Thor,

Supreme smasher of giant skulls,

With your mighty hammer, Mjollnir.

Even when Mjollnir had been stolen by one of them,

Who darkly refused to return it

Unless the beautiful goddess Freyja married him,

You demonstrated your truly courageous acts

Travelling to Jotunheim,

Pretending to take part of the outrageous wedding,

Then once you had received the hammer back,

You, mighty one, seized it

And destroyed the giant in a single blow!

You, my Lord, eternal protector of all humankind and Aesir,

Daily inspirer of courage and resolve

Who teaches us words of truth and defeats falsehood,

From your actions

We gain precious source of strength.

From your thunders

We gain light out of the darkness.
