Thor

Master of the Storm

Stealing Thor's Hammer

by Larisa Hunter

Thor8In the mead hall of Asgard,
Thor was blissfully sleeping,
His hammer out in plain sight,
Within his safe keeping.

As he slept and dreamt of Yule,
No sound could stir him,
So he slept without a sound,
While outside was plotting against him.

The fool god Loki,
Rubbed his hands,
For his plan was mounting,
Into the mead hall he would go,
To take the hammer from him.

As he crept around the hall,
Cautiously and sneaky,
He took small steps so carefully,
Lest not to wake friend Thor.

Thor would sometimes stir,
But Loki would just thwart him,
He would turn himself into various shapes,
Hide under tables or behind drapes.

Around the hall he slunk and hid,
Constantly deceiving,
Until he reached the hammer’s place,
And snatched it without thinking.

He lost his footing, causing such a ruckus,
That Thor awoke with a jolt and grabbed him,
In a moment there was a yelp,
And Loki was almost broken.

Loki smiled at good Thor,
And gave him back the hammer,
Thor in turn put Loki down,
In a gracious manner.

The two drank a glass of mead,
Forging bonds of friendship,
They laughed and talked all through the night,
As the fires were burning,

To celebrate the hammer,
And the good god Thor,
And even the fool Loki,
For returning it once more.
