Jormundgandr

by Amanda L. Harris

Girl and SerpentI delight in the storm and these turbulent seas,

A Master of my own ship, you can believe what you believe.

I take to wisdom, truth, freedom, and delight.

Will I see Jormundgandr pass by in this storm-filled night?

The taste of salt—it lingers on my skin,

Deepening the connection. I feel him stir, within.

The Serpent energy continually shoots up my spine;

Ecstasy this night is, certainly … of the Divine.

As I find myself staring into slit pupils with the rise of the full moon,

Waves continue to crash against my ship, which threatens to be my tomb.

I can’t help but smile, as he searches the depth of my soul;

What we shared this night, not even Odin should know.

His power and strength almost consuming me whole—

Stories long forgotten … so many secrets, shared.

Why do so few honor him? Why have so few dared?

Protector of Midgard, Serpent of the Seas,

You are the bringer of Truth that can set humanity free.
