Hyndla's Seeker

by Traci Logan Wood

Hyndla, Lady from the Cave,

Slumbering within, I call to you.

Be with me, for I seek your aid.

Hyndla, Mistress of Genealogy,

I honor you, wise woman, and pray to thee:

Open wide your gates of knowledge and remembrance,

Offering a single drop of blood as sacrifice,

Knowledge of my familial heart and soul.

Hyndla, Lady of Blood, Sinew, and Bones,

I hear the echo of your footsteps as you

Walk the blood path that weaves the threads

Of all families together in the fabric of time.

Hyndla, Mistress of Trees, Branches and Leaves,

I feel the tug of the web you weave

Pulling me forward in awe and gratitiude,

The baying of your hounds in the distance,

Of Triumph – the answer and blessing – received.
